Meningitis by Age

The following are the most common bacterial organisms you should think about by age:

0-4 weeks
Group B Strep
E. Coli

Same as above PLUS
Strep Pneumoniae
N. Meningitidis
H. Flu (rare since vaccination)

Children and Adults
Strep Pneumoniae
N. Meningitidis
Also consider mycobacteria

Elderly and ETOH Listeria PLUS all the regular Adult organisms
